Peshawar: The erstwhile Federally Administered Tribal Areas (FATA) has been granted a bridge loan of PKR 100 million to meet its expenditures, a news source reported. The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Government has released the sum as compensation for the Agency Development Fund (AFD), which was abolished when the FATA merger bill came into effect this year. A notification issued by the provincial revenue department said the merged district secretariat was liable to return the amount in a lump sum on the receipt of the authentication of ADF from the centre. According to the notification, Bajaur will get a share of PKR 10 million, Mohmand will receive PKR 18 million while PKR 5 million will be given to Khyber, PKR 17million to Orakzai, PKR 20 million to Kurram and PKR 15 million each to North and South Waziristan. The amendment paved the way for the northwestern region, comprising seven tribal areas, to merge with Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, thereby removing its status as a separate entity from the existing four provinces. Areas that made up the region were also redesignated as districts and subdivisions of KPK.
