Crackdown against service stations not having water recycling plants

Lahore: Authorities concerned have been ordered to shut down car service stations operating without a water recycling system, a news source reported. The orders in this regard were issued by the Lahore High Court to Water and Sanitation Agency (WASA) and Lahore Development Authority (LDA). Justice Ali Akbar Qureshi, while hearing a petition filed by a lawyer, remarked that the court had granted a two-month deadline to service stations pertaining to the installation of a water reclamation system. He also ordered crackdown against violators. The judge also directed the officials concerned to ensure early availability of tunnel mechanism in mosques to recycle clean water used for ablution and that all available resources should be utilised to save clean water. The petitioner had argued that car service stations and Parks and Horticulture Authority (PHA) do not preserve clean water used for washing vehicles and roads. He maintained that such a huge quantity of clean water gets wasted every day, adding that canal water could be used to wash plans and green belts across the city.
