PKR 45 million recovered from owners of illegal buildings

Gujranwala: The Anti-Corruption Department Gujranwala has recovered PKR 45 million from the owners of illegal buildings in Gujrat and Mandi Bahauddin, reported a news source. This amount consisted of a sum of dues pending in terms of commercial conversion fees and map fees. During this operation (which lasted one week), the Anti-Corruption Department also sealed 75 illegal buildings. The drive targeted illegally constructed commercial plazas, markets, wedding halls, schools, hotel, and restaurants. It also served notices to building owners found defaulting on their fees. Anti-Corruption Gujranwala Director Fareed Ahmed informed the media that all deputy directors and circle officers were active in their dealings with the corrupt mafia. He vowed to retrieve ‘every penny of the dues pending’ from such property owners.
