Multan: The Water and Sanitation Agency (WASA) has sent a proposal to the Punjab government for developing a sewage treatment megaproject that will treat sewage water in the central and southern zones of Multan, according to a news report. The project is expected to cost PKR 40 billion and will be spread over an area of 1,548 land acres. Briefing the delegation of Asian Development Bank, WASA Managing Director Rao Muhammad Qasim said that the megaproject will serve two-thirds of the population of the central and southern side of the city. The installation of Waste Water Treatment Plan and Sullage Carrier will require construction of a 35-kilometre long nullah. The nullah will carry the sewerage water and dispose it into Chenabi River after its treatment. WASA MD was confident that the project will help prevent disposal of sewerage water in canals.
