CDA proposes to begin construction of Rawal Chowk intersection

Islamabad: The Capital Development Authority (CDA) has proposed to begin the construction work on one of the intersections of Rawal Chowk, a news source reported. The civic body has also requested funds in its proposals for beginning the maintenance and repair work of six other roads. CDA plans to begin the work on the said Rawal Chowk intersection on an emergency basis. Read: CDA takes up stalled underpass project on Faisal Avenue CDA sources have stated that the authority may seek a formal approval for the road projects in the upcoming meeting of the CDA Development Working Party (CDA-DWP). This meeting is scheduled to take place on May 3, 2019. The road projects have been added to the meeting’s agenda as per the directions of Special Assistant to PM on CDA Affairs (and MNA from Islamabad) Ali Nawaz Awan. The CDA management aims to resolve the issue of frequent traffic jams at Rawal Chowk. For this purpose, it is expected to propose the construction of an interchange there, along with the upgradation of Murree Road. The authority has also formulated a project concept-II (PC-II) for hiring consultants to conduct a feasibility study in this regard. Additionally, it has prepared a detailed engineering design for the construction of the interchange, along with formulating a proposal for the maintenance of Murree Road from Faizabad to Serena Chowk. Several other proposals for road constructions, repairs, and maintenance work are expected to be part of the meeting’s agenda.
