Sunday June 30, 2019

Karachi: In a follow-up to the PKR 1,217 billion provincial budget, the Sindh Assembly on Thursday passed the ‘Sindh Finance Bill’ for the (fiscal year) FY2019-20. During the assembly session, Chief Minister Murad Ali Shah said that his government had fixed 13% sales tax on services in Sindh; which he referred to as the ‘lowest as compared to other provinces’. He added that the cities would not be taxed more than what they paid last fiscal. He also added that the provincial government has changed the valuation table of the next tax net. Excise and Taxation Minister Mukesh Chawla informed the house that tax on 3,000cc luxury cars was being increased to PKR 150,000 as the federal government had increased the ratio of tax on commercial vehicles. He further explained that the Sindh government has designed a table according to which ‘tax on the basis of seats’ would be collected on commercial vehicles.
