PC-1 for DG Khan Bypass approved

Tuesday November 28, 2017

Islamabad: The executive board of National Highway Authority (NHA) has approved a PC-1 for the construction of four-lane wide and 18-kilometre long bypass in Dera Ghazi (DG) Khan, according to a news source. The project has an estimated cost of PKR 4,024 billion, and is expected to be completed in 18 months. The decision was taken to tackle the load of heavy traffic headed to the city from Karachi via Indus Highway. Since DG Khan is locating on the Indus Highway and National Highway N-70 crossing, the boundaries of all provinces touch the city. The highway faces frequent traffic jams due to the presence of several stone-crushing sites and the DG Khan Cement Factory on N-70, from where sand, gravel and cement is transported to all parts of the country. The construction of DG Khan Bypass will help ensure smooth flow of traffic, reduce travelling distance, and help avoid accidents.
