Corona Relief Tigers Force established; youth to distribute supplies in locked down areas

Islamabad: Prime Minister (PM) Imran Khan on Monday — in his address to the nation — announced that the newly established Corona Relief Tigers youth force would provide aid to the country’s locked down locations as part of the government’s response to the COVID-19 pandemic, according to news sources. Read: Govt mulls inviting donations from overseas Pakistanis to offset COVID-19-induced economic blow Reportedly, the youth teams are expected to travel to the areas of the country that are currently under federal or provincial lockdown, and distribute food and other needed essentials among the underprivileged communities. The volunteers will guide the residents of these areas about the potential symptoms of the virus, and spread awareness about self-isolation, quarantine, and social distancing. In addition, a bank account for the ‘Prime Minister’s Corona Relief Fund’ will also be set up the day after tomorrow to receive donations for people affected by the COVID-19 pandemic. The premiere offered maximum tax relief for people who donate money in this account. Moreover, PM Khan also took the opportunity to reiterate that strict consequences were in store for individuals involved in hoarding — as the practice leads to unnecessary price inflation of essential items.
