Govt launches ‘WhatsApp helpline’ to combat misinformation regarding COVID-19

Karachi: The government has introduced a ‘WhatsApp Corona Helpline’ service to combat the misinformation regarding the recent outbreak of the novel coronavirus and update the masses with facts, according to news sources. Read: COVID-19: Philanthropists requested to make generous donations to help the needy Starting Monday (March 31) WhatsApp users in Pakistan can access the Ministry of Health for credible stats, news, awareness and information regarding closest testing laboratory. To access WhatsApp Corona Helpline, people need to send ‘Hi’ at +92-300-1111166 and be prompted to ask their questions or get news or stats. This service is available in six regional languages aside from Urdu. Meanwhile, Facebook has also launched a ‘Coronavirus (COVID-19) Information Center’ for Pakistan. People can access this platform which is featured at the top of the app’s ‘News Feed’. The feature is updating people from national and international health resources regarding mitigation of risk associated with the novel coronavirus.
