Lahore’s underground water table drops to alarming level

Lahore: The Judicial Water Commission Chairman Justice (R) Ali Akbar Qureshi has revealed that the undergrounded water level in Lahore has dropped to 800 feet, and if the situation continues to deteriorate then the underground water reservoirs in the city will be dry by 2025, according to news sources. The chairman disclosed this worrisome information while addressing a school event, adding that the government is practising all preserving measures to secure the underground water table. He urged the public to support this worthy cause, and make every effort they can to save water. The chairman revealed that as many as 700 factories in the city are disposing their toxic water underground through boring. He said that 200 of these factories have been issued warning notices, while the rest are undergoing inspectionJustice Ali Akbar added that many countries have spent their drinkable water resources and we need to work hard to avoid suffering the same fate. He suggested the creation of water tanks to save water, and avoid any undue waste though careful conservation.
