Development work on 3 road projects underway in Lahore

Lahore: The development work on three much-anticipated road infrastructure projects; Sheranwala Gate flyover, Ghulab Devi underpass (Ferozepur Road), and Shahkam Chowk flyover (Link Canal Road) has been launched, reported a news source on May 30. Reportedly, Director General (DG) Lahore Development Authority (LDA) Ahmad Aziz Tarar visited the construction sites of these project, accompanied by the top brass of the LDA officers including the Chief Engineer LDA Abdul Razzaq Khan, and the concerned project directors. Mr Tarar directed the Chief Engineer to complete the construction work on time and instructed that no delay in the construction progress will be tolerated. Shahkam Chowk Flyover DG LDA Ahmad Aziz Tarar visited the Shahkam Chowk flyover project site, along with the Chief Engineer LDA Abdul Razzaq Khan. The chief engineer informed that the flyover is 600-meter-long and 75 Kanal land will be acquired for the project. While talking to the media personnel the director general said that the project will take 10 months to complete with an estimated cost of PKR 4.25 billion. A network of roads spanning 10 kilometres will also be part of the flyover. The project includes the building of two bridges on the Ruhi Nullah as well as the dualisation of the Defence Road. This will help solve the longstanding traffic problem of the area. Sheranwala Flyover The 1-kilometre-long Sheranwala flyover is the longest in the city and is expected to cost PKR 4.9 billion; of which PKR 2 billion is reserved for 22 Kanal land acquisition, while the remaining will be spent on the civil works. The 400-meter elevation bearing flyover is expected to handle over 121,000 vehicles daily. Gulab Devi Underpass Similarly, PKR 2 billion Gulab Devi Hospital underpass will resolve traffic choking issues on one of the busiest roads of the city. The project consultancy services are expected to cost PKR 600 million while the civil works will cost around PKR 1.4 billion. The director during his visit instructed the project director to ensure safety arrangements and traffic diversion plans.
