Mohmand Marble City becomes SEZ

Peshawar: The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Special Economic Zone Authority’s (SEZA) board of directors on Tuesday gave the approval for the Special Economic Zone (SEZ) status to Mohmand Marble City, according to media reports. The board meeting was presided over by Chief Minister (CM) Mahmood Khan, who instructed that work on acquiring 2,000 acres of land and preparing a feasibility study begin in earnest. During the meeting, the CM directed that the marble industries be relocated from Warsak Road, Shabqadar, and Malagori to Mohmand Marble City as soon as possible. Furthermore, the minister requested that investors be provided with amenities in all economic zones. Furthermore, the CM instructed the investors to begin construction on the allotted plots within six months or risk cancellation. In addition, the meeting approved SEZA’s standard operating procedures, which will be forwarded to the Federal Board of Investment (BoI) for final approval. It was also announced that the Federal BoI approved the Rashakai SEZ zone regulations. Rashakai SEZ’s special purpose vehicle is registered with Pakistan’s Securities Exchange Commission. The meeting also discussed the development of the Mohmand Special Economic Zone. According to the media, 106 plots out of 290 have been allotted, and a water supply and 132KV grid station are available. The board also discussed the application for the status of sole enterprise SEZ for cement and allied construction materials manufacturing in Dera Ismail (DI) Khan. Due to sales restrictions, CM Mahmood Khan instructed that sites in Rashakai SEZ be leased out.
