Karachi: Mayor Karachi has requested the help of Sindh government in the operation to clean city drains, according to a news report. He said this after inspection of construction work of Pitcher Nullah near Lea Market. The mayor further said that a 6,000 feet portion of this drain has been cleaned, while work to protect the drain is also underway. City drains have been encroached upon by a mafia which targets only these natural water routes in the city. They establish shops and houses on these drains and sell them out before moving to do the same elsewhere. He said that the surrounding population will be in great danger if all encroachments from 13 major drains of Karachi were not removed. He asked the Sindh government to conduct indiscriminate operation against these encroachments.
